signs of kingdom-of-God-LIFE
abound
though hidden
like a gopher in the field
always working
the hidden reality
beneath what is
easily seen.

please give us eyes
to see beneath the
sod of life,
Lord.

conformed #5 (Luke 1 & Romans 8)

young…
unremarkable she was…
the young girl
who was the YaHWeH-chosen
to carry His Own Son
into our lives.

presented
with an impossible
visitor
who carried an unmistakable,
unthinkable
message…
all she could say was,
“YaHWeH’s will
is my desire…
let it be so in me.”

she showed us
Your heart in advance,
Lord.

didn’t she?

conformed #4 (Romans 8:28-31)

an invisible,
infinite hand
moves through our lives
shaping
us into someone
that begins to resemble You,
Lord.

to look much at all like You
we must cooperate
with the YaHWeH-hand
each day…
and
like You did
we must bend ourselves
to the YaHWeH-will
until
at last
there is only,
“Your will be done,”
left to say…
and do.

seeing #2 (Isaiah 42:1)

watching
a man walk
who
has never taken
a step
since birth...
is not necessarily
seeing him…is it,
Lord?

watching
a man look
through eyes
that have never seen anything
before…
should change every
nearby heart…
right, Lord?

miracles
should make a difference
in our lives…so
how did we miss
the YaHWeH-heart-of-mercy
Who thought them
up?

help me see You today,
Lord…
i know you’re here.

seeing #1 (Isaiah 42:1)

seeing
is more than just
looking
or even
staring at something…or
someone.

everyday
we look at people
we never really
see.

we did that with You,
Lord.
didn’t we?

the Almighty One
ate with us
and we were too proud
to wash Your feet,
Lord.

small things #1

small town.
small country.
baby boy.

called a king…
of what?
of the cosmos
He spoke into
being?
of the masses
for whom He would
die?
of earth’s kingdoms
powerful
offered Him by
satan?
of His Own country
now ruled by
tyrants?
of His Own home
town
where they would later
dismiss Him?
of the many
who would try to
force
Him to rule
for food…
and miracles?
of the 12 men
who followed Him?

did He ever claim
to be the king?
of anything?

no.

but He did accept both
worship
and
hatred
with equal grace.

so, was He
King?

is He?

He is king
of nothing bigger than our
hearts…
the cosmos is His
throne room…
the earth, His
footstool…
our hearts, His chosen
home.

the king of everything
seems
to want it that way.

shaped
by YaHWeH’s Spirit to be
like You, Lord,
why…
why are we surprised
when
there is a cost
to pay?

You purchased
our lives
at a much greater cost
than ever You
ask of us.

never
have You…
never
would You
ask us to die
without Your comfort…
without Your Presence...
would You,
Lord?
